With temperatures outside soaring, how are you coping with the heat? If you are anything like the staff here at Charcroft, you’ll be spending a lot of time eating ice creams and hogging the desk fans. Luckily for us, our product range is far better equipped to deal with the rising temperatures than we are!

Charcroft’s extensive linecard focuses on high-reliability, high-temperature products that can endure the harshest conditions. One example of this is the new T599 KO-CAP High Humidity/High Temperature Performance Polymer series from Kemet, its first 150°C Automotive KO-CAP capacitor. T599 capacitors pass 1,000 hours of humidity bias testing under 85°C with 85% relative humidity at rated voltage, and endurance testing at 150°C up to 1,000 hours, rendering it the only 150°C AEC-Q200 qualified polymer electrolytic capacitor available today.

Also from Kemet, their High Temperature X7R Dielectric capacitors are formulated and designed for extreme temperature applications. Constructed of a robust and proprietary base metal electrode (BME) dielectric system, these devices are capable of reliable operation in temperatures up to 175°C. Providing an attractive combination of performance and robustness in general high temperature applications, High Temperature X7R dielectric capacitors are well suited for high temperature bypass and decoupling applications or frequency discriminating circuits where Q and stability of capacitance characteristics are not critical. The X7R is aimed for use in applications in extreme environments such as down-hole exploration, aerospace engine compartments and geophysical probes.

With Tantalum capacitors available for operation up to 230°C and Ceramic capacitors available for operation up to 260°C, you can also use the Kemet High Temperature Capacitor Selection Guide to help you find your best fit; this can be found here.
