Charcroft Secures Central Semiconductor Supply Chain Franchise

Specialist electronics distribution firm Charcroft Electronics has just added Central Semiconductor to its portfolio of suppliers.

Specialist electronics distribution firm Charcroft Electronics has just added Central Semiconductor to its portfolio of suppliers.


The diodes, rectifiers, MOSFETs, JFETs and circuit protection devices produced by Central are aimed at use in space, defence, avionics and other mission-critical applications. To support this new franchise, Charcroft has just recruited James Spencer to serve as a field-based Technical Sales Engineer. As well as extensive prior commercial experience (working for the likes of RS, Murata and TT Electronics), he can also draw upon a BSc in Astrophysics from the University of Leicester.


"It is the ability to evolve and adapt that is key to maintaining the specialist support which is vital to customers in harsh and critical industries such as space, defence and high-end industry," notes Roger Tall, Director at Charcroft. "Delivering this level of support relies on combining 50 years of in-depth understanding of the industries, components and standards, with the ability to offer a solution to the unique challenge faced by individual customers."

The winners of an art competition organised by the Llanwrtyd and District Heritage and Arts Centre were announced at a special preview evening held in early July. More than 70 guests viewed the exhibition which comprised of 80 pieces chosen from the original 100 submissions and there was a varied interpretation of the theme ‘A Moment in Time’ from the Welsh-based artists. A panel of judges included Wrexham University art lecturer Wendy Connelly, Robin Bailey from Raw-I Studios in Chester, Brent Blair, owner of the Lion Street Gallery in Hay-on-Wye, and art restorer Chris Matchett.
