Oxley Launch new BA9 and E10 Bulb Replacements
Oxley has introduced a new series of bipolar LEDs to its extensive range of LED incandescent bulb replacements.
Designed to replace standard BA9 and E10 incandescent bulbs in push button switches and panel instrumentation the ELEDs are suitable for use in rail, power and oil and gas applications.
The new ELEDS have a unique multi-voltage operating range from 12 vdc/vac to 60 vdc/vac ensuring bipolarity, thermal management and increased mean time between failure of 100,000 hours.
They utilise the latest in LED technology to achieve the required levels of illumination. The LED is machined to create a flat top that ensures ‘true and even’ behind bezel illumination and eliminates the hot spot often associated with earlier, more directional LEDs.
Oxley LED Business Manager David Howell says: “The benefit of using an Oxley warm white ELED is that the colour mimics that of an incandescent bulb and successfully filters through all colours of push button switches including the more problematic yellows and reds.”
Fully tested and qualified the ELEDs are available now in white and warm white with green, blue, yellow and AlGaAs red variants to follow shortly. Oxley drawing CP39948 refers.

non-PTH PCB test plugs (SNALE® Printed Circuit Connectors)
Snale® pins have been widely established in the commercial and military electronics market worldwide as the definitive terminal pin for use with non-plated through-hole PCB’s and chassis.
The knurled and barbed retention mechanism gives a low insertion force, high retention and non-rotation fit ensuring rigidity with ease of assembly. The Snale® pin range is available in a variety of lengths and diameters to suit applications such as multi-way pin headers on aircraft engine control systems, pins in connectors and lead through terminals and solder posts on flow meters.
They are available in standard tin lead, silver, palladium, pure tin and gold finishes. Bespoke styles are also available thanks to our in-house high precision machining capabilities.

Insulated Terminals
Oxley Developments designed the Barb Cone Lock® locking technology many years ago and it has been successful in a wide range of chassis mounting insulated "stand off" and "lead through" applications. The components are constructed from PTFE and have an elastic property which allows the barbed metal spill to lock itself in place by gently expanding the PTFE underneath the chassis during insertion. This ensures a long life and a stable mounting in the chassis which is a fundamental part of the product’s success.
The product has proven in many industry applications ranging from the military, nuclear and space sectors to medical and telecommunications settings. There is a vast range of types and styles to suit a variety of hole sizes and chassis thicknesses. There are also "CEEL" high sealing versions for use in applications involving vacuums and differential pressures.
The spills are manufactured using precision turned, high specification brass material with a silver plating finish as standard. Other finishes are available on request.
Oxley also has the capability to manufacture Barb Cone Locks® in a variety of exotic metals for thermocoupling applications.

KINKY PIN® Plated Through Hole (PTH) Connectors
Kinky Pins® were designed to specifically meet the demands of plated through-hole (PTH) technology introduced in printed circuit boards. They tend to be used with flexi-circuit termination and as solder terminals, connectors and in multi-way pin arrays.
They use a unique kinked retention mechanism which gives a fit in the PTH that is unsurpassed. The kinked leg provides a tight non-aggressive spring-loaded fit, while the straight leg ensures the pin is kept perpendicular to the PCB prior to soldering.
The slotted design induces wicking of the solder up into the kink and up to the flange. That ensures the solder joint is solid and free of air pockets, reducing the possibility of dry joints developing and increasing the life of the solder joint.
The Kinky Pin® range is comprehensive and our in-house high precision machining capabilities mean that we have the ability to manufacture bespoke versions on request. Standard finishes are tin lead and gold with other finishes available on request.

Kinky Idea That’s Really Catching On
The pioneering design of the Oxley ‘Kinky Pin’ has made it the perfect interconnect solution for many years, but it is only in more recent times, with the change in PCB assembly processes, that it is being fully appreciated within the PCB assembly market.
The kink in this phosphor bronze miniature interconnect component was originally designed for “select on test” plated through hole PCB assembly but due to its unique shape it is now more commonly used as a compliant fit pin which eliminates the need for wave and selective soldering.
The kinky pin offers a number of benefits said Oxley Business Manager Dave Howell. “Ease of assembly is always a big plus and kinky pins have a low insertion force, with an excellent retention mechanism which is more than sufficient in holding the pin perpendicular and securely in the board. This is critical for assembly of flexi circuits to rigid boards, as it allows the PCB to be flipped upside down for reflow soldering without the pin falling out."
The slot produced by the kink also creates a true solder joint with the added benefit of eliminating the possibility of air pockets and dry joints by exaggerating the wicking effect when soldering.
Oxley has a wide range of kinky pins and with Oxley in-house precision machining and plating capabilities, custom-made versions can be produced offering standard finishes in tin lead, silver, gold, pure tin or palladium. Dave added: “Our in-house facilities enable us to manufacture batch quantities for bespoke, customer-driven designs, providing a unique service.”
The growth in orders received for this essential interconnect variant means the kinky pin is the component of choice for today’s PCB assembly market.
Plugs & Sockets
This range of precision machined plugs and sockets utilizes the same locking mechanism as our Barb Cone Lock® Insulated Terminals.
The range includes chassis mounting plugs and sockets, line plugs and sockets and multi-way edge mounting sockets, all in a range of diameters from 0.5mm to 4mm with current ratings from 1 to 5 Amps. Typical applications are for test equipment and card rack systems in the military, aerospace and nuclear industries and for high voltage applications up to 2kV.
The simple assembly provides a product with high insulation resistance and low contact resistance.
Standard finishes are gold flash on silver undercoat for the plugs and silver on the sockets, helping to maintain a low contact resistance performance over many mating cycles. Other finishes and materials are also available on request.

snap-fit connector points (SNAPLOX® Printed Circuit Test Point)
The Snaplox® name is firmly established in the global electronics market. The award winning design has been utilized in a vast range of applications for both commercial and military requirements, including towed sonar arrays and rolling stock electronics equipment.
The Snaplox® concept enables highly accurate testing to be done while reducing the risk of board damage. This is due to the unique ball and socket arrangement which provides eight points of low resistance contact through a 60º connection angle. Beyond this 60º the socket disconnects with ease, preventing stress to the pin and board.
The standard finishes are palladium or gold plated pins and a PTFE insulated silver plated socket which gives a robust, long life, low contact resistance test point system. Other finishes are available on request.
The Snaplox® are available with a range of PCB (surface mount, Kinky Pin® and Snale®) and chassis
The Snaplox® are available with a range of PCB (surface mount, Kinky Pin® and Snale®) and chassis mounting (Barb Cone Lock®) retention mechanisms to suit most applications and bespoke styles can be manufactured as needed.
