Vishay withdraw 2T and 2W termination and package codes

Vishay are withdrawing the 2T and 2W termination and package codes which denote Tin/Lead solder terminations on some series of tantalum capacitors (see below). These parts will continue to be available with Tin/Lead terminations, suitable for military and other RoHS-exempt applications requiring a minimum of 5% lead (Pb), under the 8T and 8W termination codes.

  • 293D, 593D, 893D
  • CECC-qualified (CTC3, CTC4, 793DE & 793DX)

The revised termination codes for the above series of tantalum capacitors will therefore be as follows:

100% Matte Tin terminations:   2TE3 (7” reels) and 2WE3 (13” reels)

            Tin/Lead:                                  8T (7” reels) and 8W (13” reels)

Recommended actions:

RoHS-exempt applications: In order to continue to receive parts with Tin/Lead terminations, customers with RoHS-exempt applications should replace the existing 2T and 2W codes with 8T (supplied on 7” reels) or 8W (supplied on 13” reels) codes for the above series

RoHS-compliant applications: In order to continue to receive parts with 100% Matte Tin terminations, customers with RoHS-compliant applications should replace the existing 2T and 2W codes with 2TE3 (supplied on 7” reels) or 2WE3 (supplied on 13” reels) codes for the above series.

This change is intended to clarify the confusion resulting from the fact that for all Vishay series, except those mentioned above, the 2T and 2W codes indicate that the product has 100% matte tin terminations.

Obsolescence
Discontinuation of the 2222 336 1xxxx 10mm pitch (ref 06-174)

With respect to the discontinuation of the RFI 336,1 series 10 mm pitch; main reason is streamlining of our portfolio and phasing out productseries with very limited market interest. For details we refer to the change notification. Dec 2006
Withdrawal: Metal Film Resistors SMA0204 TC100, SMA0207 TC100, SMA0309, SMA0207 HF, SMA0207 LD, SMA0411 HF (ref 06-226)

Metal Film Resistors SMA0204 TC100, SMA0207 TC100 will be withdrawn and replaced by series MBA/SMA0204 TC50 1%, MBB/SMA0207 TC50 1%, SMA0207 HF, SMA0207 LD, SMA0309 (all) and SMA0411 HF will be withdrawn without replacement.

REASON FOR CHANGE: Streamline the Leaded Metal Film Resistor Portfolio and abolish different names for equivalent product series. This will lead to an improved and efficient portfolio structure and a significant reduction of different part numbers for one component type. Withdrawal without replacement is performed due to low demand. For further information we refer to the change notification. Dec 2006

New compact 2W Panel Potentiometer

May 2007: A new PRV4 compact panel potentiometer from Vishay Sfernice features a cermet element and a high 2-W power rating. With a 19.6-mm diameter, the new device is smaller than other 2W panel potentiometers, providing a compact alternative to the Mil RV4. Its cermet element provides better stability than carbon elements, and its nickel-plated brass shaft offers greater reliability and robustness. Resistance ranges from 20Ù to 10MÙ, with a low 1% typical contact resistance variation and maximum operating torque is 4.3 oz.-inch, with an end-stop torque of 6 lb-inch. An operating temperature range of 55°C to +125°C ensures reliable operation in extreme environments. The PRV4 uses faston 2.86 connections and its electrical performance is in accordance with MIL-PRF-94 standards.
